Epcot's 5th Annual International Food and Wine Festival begins October 21 and runs through November 19 2000.

It's been a couple years since I attended a Food and Wine Festival so I'm excited about my trip in November. Besides, I'll also be staying at the brand new Wilderness Lodge Villas!

The Food and Wine festival fits all budgets, from bare bones to extravagent!

All you really need is admission to Epcot.

You can sit in (for free) at the small wine seminars near Germany (usually about 20 minutes in length). Hear one of the winemakers talk about their products and sample a wine or two.

Also, at no additional charge, you can also enjoy the 15-minute cooking demonstrations held four times daily at China, Japan, France, and the Walt Disney World Marketplace.

For $1-$4 a sample, you can snack your way around World Showcase with over 40 country booths offereing food, wine and beer from their part of the world.

After that, the sky and your wallet are your only limits. You can enjoy basic food and wine parings to large wine tastings to wine dinners to reserve dinners.

From my previous experience, I found the samples of food almost all above average in quality. The Wine Seminars near Morocco were fun and informative. The entire experience quite enjoyable and I would highly recommend anyone interested in experiencing new tastes in both food, beverage to check out Epcot's Food and Wine Festival!

Have you met Gertie, the brontosaurus at Dinosaur Gerties Ice Cream of Extinction on the edge of Echo Lake at the Disney-MGM Studios?

The dino is actually a replica of the California architecture popular in the 1940's and 1950's.

If you look around the Ice Cream stand you can find the footprints Gertie left a long time ago 🙂

In the early 1900's, Gertie the Dinosaur was one of the first cartoon characters to have emotions and a personality. She was popularized by Winsor McCay's vaudeville act. Walt's business partner at the time, Ub Iwerks, saw Gertie and told Walt about her. They began to study the ways McCay was able to "bring her to life". Inspired by McCay's work, Walt and Ub began to learn all they could about animation!

The Results Are In! The September WDWIG reader poll question was:

What is your favorite Epcot Fast Food Eatery?

The winner with 21% is Cantina de San Angel – Mexico.

The Electric Umbrella in Future World and the American Adventure's Liberty Inn scored 14% and 13%.

10% of you wrote in votes (I just couldn't get all the eateries on the poll). The bigest write-in was for The Land eatery.

Over 1,700 persons voted.
