Pixies Sighted at WDW China Pattern Anniversary Event

China Pattern Anniversary Event

Our pixies helped Mike surprise Sue with a special event for the 20th anniversary of the night Mike proposed marriage.

Now, when we hear from someone like Mike who is looking to make something like the anniversary of an engagement into a special event we know we are dealing with someone who has probably already planned so many events to surprise his wife that ours had better be very special to be able to stand out.

Since the traditional gift for a 20th anniversary is china we created "the China Pattern Event." Mike and Sue were coming to WDW for a weekend. He was surprising her with this trip and our event would be totally unexpected.

When they arrived to check in at their hotel Sue was given a Chinese food take-out container with a large bow and chopsticks decorating the exterior. Inside was a necklace made of china beads. On the beads were the likenesses of different Disney Princesses. The note, personalized just for Sue, also explained to Sue that to find out the meaning of her gift she needed to be at the Summer Lace shop at the Grand Floridian between 5:30 and 6:00 pm that evening.

The note read that Sue needed to look through the teapots for the secret to her gift. Summer Lace had a grand reopening last week. The new merchandise is wonderful! Much of it is Victorian themed.

They also carry several brands of china teapots and accessories. (There is a lot of good stuff here and SURPRISE: many of the prices are reasonable and SOME are even inexpensive!)

When Sue arrived at the shop she was very timid about searching through the selection so the cast members (who were in on our surprise) made a point of pointing out the various displays before centering in on the teapots. Sue decided to start with the teapot that she would have wanted to have for her own the most from the selection. Here we were right on the money because the teapot Sue choose was the teapot where the note was hidden.

The note read: Sue, this teapot has already been purchased for you. Just bring it to the counter and they will package it for you. Then bring your gift and husband over to the Wedding Pavilion.

We could tell that both Sue and Mike were really enjoying this event. We watched them make their way over to the Wedding Pavilion. Again, the timing could not have been better. Just as they reached the pavilion a wedding ceremony finished and everyone was exiting. They could see the Glass Coach, bride and groom, the uniformed footmen, and the Major Domo as they made their way from the wedding pavilion.

Sue was so thrilled that she walked right past her next gift. Mike actually had to point the very obvious package out to Sue. When she opened it she found a china figure of two little mice, a male and a female. The male was made to look shy. Behind his back he was unsuccessfully trying to hide a diamond engagement ring that was larger than he was.

At this point Mike renewed his proposal to Sue. We kept a respectful distance so that this was a private moment for the two of them. Once the guests had all left the church, Mike and Sue were able to enter the chapel and tour the building.

Later, much later that evening, Mike and Sue were having dinner at Narcoossee's. When it was time for dessert the manager of the restaurant (with the help of our pixies) presented Sue with a Glass Slipper. The engraving on the slipper read "Mike and Sue – Happily Ever After".

And so they are.

It was the perfect ending to a wonderful event.
