The Best of Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance’ Back by Popular Demand This Summer at EpcotLAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (6/00)-- The
lightning-quick footwork and heart-pounding Celtic rhythms that have
thrilled audiences around the world are back at Walt Disney World Resort,
bringing audiences to their feet during the free-form Irish spectacular
“The Best of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance” -- performing
live June 18-Aug. 26 at Epcot.
“Last summer’s engagement was an enormous hit with our guests, and we are delighted to bring this world-class, high-energy presentation show back,” says Laurie Speights, general manager for Epcot Entertainment. “It’s great for the whole family and a perfect addition to our continuing celebration of world cultures.”
The summer blockbuster series steps up with a daily performance schedule of 30-minute shows featuring highlights from selected touring productions. Performances are at the America Gardens Theatre and are included with Epcot admission. Show times are 3, 4:30, 5:45 and 7:10 p.m." An intricate set, colorful costumes, dramatic music and lighting all help bring to life a mesmerizing story of good versus evil. Dancers, singers and violin players perform various numbers solo and enmasse, beginning and climaxing with the show’s signature routine -- the trademark pounding dance sequence that takes the audience’s breath away.

Since its creation in 1996, “Lord of the Dance” has become an international phenomenon with more than 300 performances in 100 cities worldwide, as well as television specials. The show’s soundtrack -- a combination of traditional Celtic melodies fused with electronic piano and percussion -- has sold millions of copies and reached number one on Billboard’s World Music Chart.

GUEST COMMENTS: We ate at Japan, and we paid approximately $42 a piece for dinner and this included tax & tip. My wife had the Steak & Lobster ($29), an appetizer ($6.50), desert (approx $3-5) and beverage ($2), so it ended up being a great deal :) I am not a seafood person, so I couldn't really get an appetizer (only seafood appetizers in Teppanyaki, and I only had a steak for my entree for around $22 plus beverage, and desert. The seating was at the front of the stage back approximately 4-5 rows where there is a separation. We ended up in the 3rd row. I would say if you are going to do this go for the front row. It wasn't packed, but we still had trouble seeing the footwork (the best part of the show). They let you into the theater 30 minutes before the show, however, the line was all the way to Japan before they even began seating. So, I would try to be there 45minutes to an hour before the show if you want front row. The show is excellent, and we were happy that we had done the dinner package. BTW - the Disney dining people had told us to check-in at the restaurant. This is wrong. We had to check in at Group Sales which is way off to the right before you enter Epcot. We would have missed dinner if I hadn't seen the small sign as we were coming down the Monorail ramp. (Joe Papesh, 6/00) Photos are from the 1999 Show.
