Disneyland Announces CHANGES to New Orleans Square Before the Return of Fantasmic!

If you’ve ever seen Fantasmic! in Disneyland, you probably know what we mean when we say that it is CROWDED.

Unlike Disney World, Disneyland does not have a theater for the show, so instead guests flock to New Orleans Square to stake out a spot and watch the fan-favorite show. And, once it’s over, the area gets pretty cramped. There are tons of construction projects and refurbishments happening in Disneyland right now, and with the upcoming return of Fantasmic! for the first time since 2020, Disney is planning to do something about crowd congestion.

According to the Orange County Register, Disney officials have confirmed that they will be making changes to New Orleans Square while Pirates of the Caribbean and Blue Bayou are closed for refurbishment to improve the traffic flow before Fantasmic! returns.

Work on the area will start after Pirates of the Caribbean closes for refurbishment on March 14th, and is expected to be complete before Fantasmic! returns on May 28th.

Changes will be made to the extended queue for Pirates of the Caribbean in efforts to help with the flow of traffic, and while all of the viewing areas for Fantasmic! are staying the same, some of the raised platforms and stairs along the Rivers of America will be lowered.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for what changes in the area, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
