Disney Cruise Line Ships: Disney Dream – Everything You Need to Know

The Disney Dream is one of the larger ships in the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) fleet and home of the AquaDuck, a 765-foot water roller coaster, the very first “water coaster” of its kind on a ship. The Dream’s maiden voyage was on January 26, 2011, and remains a fun and beautiful ship with amazing dining.

Disney Dream

The Disney Dream, like all Disney Cruise Line ships, is modeled after the grand vessels of the 1920s and is inspired by an Art Deco atmosphere. She really displays some amazing technology when you dig a little deeper. Things like interactive portraits and the fabulous Animator’s Palette restaurant bring fun around every corner.

Each ship has a special character icon that greets guests at the atrium and stands at the base of the main staircase. On the Dream, that character is Captain Donald!

The Dream can hold up to 4,000 passengers in 1,250 staterooms. It is 1,115 feet long and 216 feet high.

STATEROOMS

There 1,250 staterooms broken into four main categories of staterooms:

  • Concierge
  • Verandah
  • Oceanview
  • Inside staterooms

About 12% of the 1,250 staterooms are Inside staterooms. The other 88% are either oceanview (199 in total), which have at least one porthole window,  and 901 have a verandah (including the 21 suites onboard).

Most staterooms on the Disney Cruise Line include their unique split bathroom, with a commode and sink/mirror in one bathroom and a shower/tub and sink/mirror in a second, making these rooms so much more convenient for families to get ready in the morning.

DINING

The Disney Cruise Line pioneered the concept of “rotational dining” where instead of eating at the same restaurant night after night, you get to explore more of the ship and the unique cuisine it offers  — and your waitstaff rotates with you, so your familiar Cast Member server will keep up with you and your dining preference throughout your cruise. There are three uniquely themed family restaurants aboard the Disney Dream, and they offer a variety of menus and cuisines and friendly, personalized service. Royal Palace, an exquisite dining room perfect for any king or queen; Enchanted Garden, a transformative oasis inspired by the gardens of Versailles; and Animator’s Palate, a Disney Cruise Line signature restaurant, are the perfect settings for delicious dining with a magical Disney twist.

Enchanted Garden on the Disney Dream

While dining at Animator’s Palate, families are immersed in a vivid undersea environment during “Undersea Magic,” where Crush makes a special guest appearance and engages in live impromptu interactions with guests as he swims around the restaurant.

Two adult-exclusive restaurants – Palo, specializing in modern Italian cuisine, and Remy, an upscale and romantic dining experience serving French-inspired cuisine – feature stunning ocean views and a formal, romantic ambiance.

ENTERTAINMENT

The Walt Disney Theatre is a beautiful entertainment venue with 1,340 seats that spans three decks. The theatre has both orchestra and balcony seating, and its Art Deco styling invokes the luxurious show places from the past. Every night, original productions and Disney stories come to life in a whole new way thanks to the theatre’s advanced theatrical technology.

Beauty and the Beast” brings the timeless fable to life like never before, featuring a style of theater that interlaces classic storytelling elements with cutting-edge technology. An innovative take on the story transforms renowned songs into spectacular, show-stopping numbers, and lavish costumes and puppetry bring a fresh perspective to beloved characters.

Through a combination of high-definition projections, dynamic scenery, and a little bit of Disney magic, this interpretation of “Beauty and the Beast” creates a visual spectacle that reaches beyond the stage and into the audience. Complementing the immersive set, lighting design by four-time Tony Award-nominated Japhy Weideman punctuates the powerful emotions of the classic tale.

They’re close again!

More than 20 of Disney’s most beloved characters take the stage during “Disney’s Believe,” including Cinderella, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Belle, Rafiki, and Princess Tiana. The splendid production tells the story of a workaholic father who, through the power of Disney magic, reconnects with his daughter and learns a valuable lesson about what is important in life.

The Golden Mickeys” celebrates the musical heritage of Disney animated films, immersing guests in all the glamour and excitement of a Hollywood awards gala. The show gets an extra sprinkle of glitz and glamour with additional musical numbers, enhanced technology, and dazzling special effects.
