I Seriously Miss This Abandoned Frontierland Restaurant in Magic Kingdom

A lot has changed in Disney World over the past few years.

Tom Sawyer Island

We’ve seen restaurants come and go. We’ve watched shops come and go. Some restaurants have been completely reimagined. It’s been a wild ride, but there’s one restaurant we REALLY miss and it can be found in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom.

So this restaurant can actually be found on Tom Sawyer Island. It’s Aunt Polly’s Dockside Inn, and it was often only open seasonally during really busy days in Magic Kingdom. However, it’s now been closed since 2020 and has somehow fallen into the realm of forgotten restaurants at Disney World. Disney hasn’t mentioned that it’s closed permanently, but it no longer appears on the Disney World website or My Disney Experience app. We think that may be a sign that it may not ever reopen (or at least it’ll be a while), and that’s a shame.

Aunt Polly’s

Aunt Polly’s was a counter service window with outdoor covered seating. This is one of those places we’re nostalgic about, and we’re really sad to see it closed. This was one of the most relaxing places to grab a beverage and a snack in Disney World. Plus the seating area offered great views of the Rivers of America and the Liberty Belle steamboat driving by.

We really miss the days when Aunt Polly’s offered delicious fried chicken, but its most recent menu before its alleged permanent closure included some amazing snacks, including Biscuit Barbecued Pork Sliders and Mississippi Mud Pie. We were also big fans of the Root Beer float you could get here.

We would even argue it was worth taking the boat to Tom Sawyer Island to eat here (and to just get away from the chaotic energy of Magic Kingdom on busy days). However, it just makes us sad when we visit Tom Sawyer Island and see it just sitting there abandoned. Disney hasn’t offered any details about what it might do with the location (if anything), so we guess we’re just going to have to say goodbye to Aunt Polly’s for good.

For now, we’ll just have to remember the days when Aunt Polly’s was open, and think about those Biscuit Barbecued Pork Sliders we couldn’t get enough of.
