Walt Disney World transportation — we often love to hate it and hate to love it!
There are lots of ways to get around Disney World, and some resorts have an easier time with transportation than others. Let’s take a look at just how ALL the Disney resorts stack up to one another based on their transportation options!
Here are the Disney World hotels ranked by their transportation options!
21. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
The worst resort for transportation goes to Coronado Springs for its limited option of bus-only transportation. Plus, it’s got the pitfall of internal stops.
18-20. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Similarly, all three All-Star Resorts have access only to bus transportation. There are no internal stops, but these resorts have a lot of rooms which can mean a lot of guests trying to ride at the same time. Plus, they often share buses, which can make for longer waits.
17. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Animal Kingdom Lodge is far from everything and the final option that leaves guests with buses as the only way to head out of the resort.
16. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
Saratoga Springs may have internal stops and be mostly limited to bus transportation, but it edges ahead for the walking path to Disney Springs.
15. Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Similarly, Old Key West has internal stops and majority bus transportation, too, but you can snag a boat to Disney Springs. Plus, it has fewer internal stops.
13-14. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
Next up, the Port Orleans Resorts have fewer internal stops and a boat option to Disney Springs, too. The rest of the routes will be buses. Of the two, French Quarter might get an edge for (sometimes) having its own dedicated bus.
12. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Fort Wilderness has a few internal stops and primarily bus transportation, but it has a boat directly to Magic Kingdom, too.
11. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Caribbean Beach Resort might have the most internal stops of any hotel (seven in total!), but it also has access to the Skyliner (and serves as the hub for the three Skyliner lines) to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The rest of the transportation relies on that bus.
10. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
Wilderness Lodge is primarily bus, but it does have access to a boat to Magic Kingdom. Boat to the park beats boat to Disney Springs!
8-9. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Art of Animation and Pop Century share a Skyliner station that can get busy —Â but not as busy as the gondola system’s hub at Caribbean Beach. Buses pick up the other routes.
7. Disney’s Riviera Resort
Riviera Resort has the least busy Skyliner station of the three resort stations. Otherwise, we’re still heavily relying on the bus in our top seven.
6. Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Alright, now for the big ones. The Contemporary has access to the monorail to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT as well as the walkway to Magic Kingdom.
4-5. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Rounding out the top five, Grand Floridian and Polynesian both have access to the monorail, a boat to Magic Kingdom, walking to Magic Kingdom, and buses for the rest.
1-3. Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
Tied for first through third, the EPCOT-area resorts take the cake. Beach Club, Yacht Club, and BoardWalk Inn all have walking paths to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, Skyliner access from EPCOT, and boats to both nearby parks. If you had an EPCOT entry, you could even pass through to snag the monorail to Magic Kingdom. That’s a winner!

We usually stay at Coronado Springs and have always had great transportation service. There are only four stops at the resort and it really is the most centrally located property so travel times to every park is quick. The worst transportation we ever had was at Port Orleans French Quarter when we shared with Riverside. It took forever to get to the parks. Cheers!!!!
It would be useful to do separate hotel rankings for wheel-chair and ECV folks. When those are needed, the rest of the family/group may have to use what they use. The lyft and uber options can make a lot of sense when they support wheelchairs or ECVs, but not otherwise. Then bus & some boats are more practical. The absence of the Minnie Vans is a downer.
We have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter many times. Buses to the theme parks are acceptable. Return trips to the resorts are a pain. There are never enough buses at park closing time and waits are interminable. Buses are extremely crowded, many people are rude, and the ride is uncomfortable for a slightly handicapped person for whom standing on a moving bus is difficult. However, it is still less trouble than driving to a park and walking great distances to the park entrance. Lyft is a good option, however.
I would rank Poly resort number 1. Walk to MK with easy access to Grand Floridian and Contemporary for dining options and walk to Transportation and Ticket Center for access to all other areas. But your list is spot on too!
Yes, Boardwalk, yacht and beach have the best location and transportation!
Totally agree. We are Boardwalk DVC people and love our location. Back in the good days we would walk to Hollywood, then stop back at Boardwalk make a cocktail in our room and walk to EPCOT. Sometimes as you suggested we would then take the monorail to Magic Kingdom.
I am currently staying at Coronado Springs as I type this. The bus transportation has been stellar.
I think I like the monorail the best!!!!! So the monorail resorts should be the top 3!!!!!
