A Definitive Ranking of the Best Free Ice Water in Disney World

Picture this: it’s a summer day in Disney World, it’s hot, you’re tired and you are in need of water! How many times has that happened to you? It happens to me, basically every day.

Free Ice Water

It’s no surprise that issues can come up in Disney World. But the last thing you want is to be dehydrated. While there is free water offered in the parks, it is in fact no all the same and I am here to share my strong opinions about it.

I go to Disney World nearly every day, so I know a thing or two about the free water. Believe it or not, the spectrum is wide for free ice water you can get at Disney World. Here is my complete breakdown of the best and worst places to get it from.

Breedlove and Figment

Magic Kingdom

Here for the water in Magic Kingdom

While in Magic Kingdom, Casey’s Corner is convenient if you are on Main Street. But, it can get crowded in there and it’s not the best-tasting water. It is a solid option though if you’re in a pinch.

Casey’s Corner

Pecos Bill Tale Tell Inn typically has trays of ice water out on the counters for guests to take on very hot days. I have seen the ice water change locations though so it is best to ask the greeter at the door where to find it on that day.

I recommend skipping Sleepy Hollow for ice water unless you’re grabbing a snack there. You have to wait in line to ask for the water and it can get pretty busy at this location. This also goes for Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, which is very busy as well.

Sleepy Hollow

Friar’s Nook is my top choice. It’s convenient because you just have to walk up to the mobile order counter and ask for a cup of ice water.

You don’t have to hassle with beating the crowds inside of a restaurant to pick it up. It’s also my favorite type of ice and the flavor of this water is unmatched.

EPCOT

Let’s find the best water in EPCOT

Spice Road Table usually has a self-service water station. It is a pitcher outside of the location with cups out for you. Now, you cannot get ice with this as it just comes out as water, but it is very cold.

At Connections Eatery and Sunshine Seasons, you’ll find an ice machine and water at the soda fountains. This allows you to fill up any bottle you have with you, but they also have cups you can take. This water tastes great since it’s from the machine. The only downside, is you have to go out of your way and fight through a crowd to get these.

Connections Eatery

If you’re in the World Showcase, you can also grab some at Regal Eagle. It is the same setup as Connections Cafe and Sunshine Seasons.

Regal Eagle Smokehouse

This is also a good place to sit inside and drink your water, although it can get busy in there.

Hollywood Studios

Max & Me at Hollywood Studios

At Sunset Ranch Market, the quick service locations here offer free cups of ice water. I usually look for the one that is the least busy and go to the mobile ordering line to ask for a cup of water. The downside here is that sometimes these restaurants can get crowded.

On really hot days, I have seen water stations at Ronto Roasters. These are usually in brown plastic drink containers, so it might be all in my mind, but the water tastes weird. Inside Docking Bay 7, though, I found great water in self-service containers — so if you’re on Batuu, I recommend grabbing water there.

Docking Bay 7

ABC Commissary is a great option. It’s centrally located in the park and it is in a soda fountain machine. This allows you to fill up as many times as you would like and take a break in the AC.

ABC Commissary

My number one choice at Studios is the self-service pitcher found at Baseline Taphouse. This is similar to the pitcher dispenser at Spice Road Table and only water comes out.

Baseline Tap House

The water tastes great, it’s easy to get to, and you can grab a cup and serve yourself.

Animal Kingdom

On the hunt for water in Animal Kingdom

Flame Tree Barbecue is a good option at Animal Kingdom, but you do have to go to the mobile order counter to ask for it and sometimes this restaurant is very busy. Plus, there is no indoor seating here so you’ll be outside drinking your water.

My favorite spot in Animal Kingdom is Restaurantosaurus. While it can be out of the way, it has plenty of indoor seating to take a break and drink water. It is a soda machine similar to others I mentioned earlier and it tastes great. This is also the same for Sautli Canteen, but this restaurant tends to be busier than Restaurantosaurus.

Hopefully, this will help keep you updated the next time you’re in the Disney World parks! It’s HOT out there, so stay hydrated, friends!

  1. Sad that the water in your resort room is drinkable and yet zero water fountains in Magic Kingdom are drinkable even with flavoring powders added. I agree with the comment below that most of the time the water tastes like it was harvested from the ponds.

  2. Thanks Breedlove! I heard you mention your favorite free water spots in your No Phone series so I Goolged “Breedlove free water” and found this article! It seems so simple like you can find water any number of places but when it is an easy, quick stop it makes staying hydrated seem like less of a chore.

  3. Can’t thank you enough for these great suggestions. I’m always on the lookout for a good cold ice water. Trust me, there is no magic in Magic Kingdom water. It’s just yucky. I made the mistake of getting cup of water from a kiosk in Frontier Land. Oh my! Did they just dip a cup in the water that the Steamship traverses? It’s free, I know .Once, leaving Hollywood Studios I crawled up to the spot where the gas station cardboard man is. They said they were out of water. I know I could buy a bottle of water but I’m too cheap. Usually the best cold water is from the area where all the soft drinks are
