A ‘Frozen’ Land Could Be Part of Disney’s NEW $1.9 Billion Expansion Project

We all got tremendously excited to see a new ‘Frozen’ land open at Hong Kong Disneyland late last year, but how would you feel if something similar came to the United States?

‘Frozen’ Ever After

Well, that could be a possibility closer than you think! Disneyland’s latest multibillion-dollar project, promises tremendous expansion for the California parks and we just can’t help but wonder if we could get even more than we thought possible at first.

Before we can get into the nitty-gritty of what this new area could look like, we’ve got to first understand Disneyland’s plans for expansion. Disneyland has been working on DisneylandForward since 2021. It would essentially expand the park boundaries while allowing Disney to create new areas for things like rides, attractions, lands, restaurants, and more over existing areas that are already in use for another purpose.

You may be asking yourself, “What’s the big deal? Can’t Disney just knock down their own building and build on the land they already own?” Well … not quite. In short, the land Disney wants to build on is currently zoned for other uses. Under the current guidelines, Disney could not repurpose the Toy Story parking lot as an expanded section of the theme parks.

You can see where this could get messy quickly, because Disney is constantly thinking about ways to change and grow. DisneylandForward aims to work in connection with the City of Anaheim to change the area’s zoning to allow for expansion.

Now that you’ve had a crash course in DisneylandForward, let’s talk about what those plans may include. In the announcement of intent to expand Disneyland, another ultra-popular power duo was mentioned. Frozen could be an integral part of what we see of the expansion to potentially take place at Disneyland. So let’s say this actually happens… what could that look like?

Well, we have lots of thoughts about how this could play out. It’s not too farfetched to think that we could see Disneyland in California develop its own version of World of Frozen that just debuted in Hong Kong Disneyland.

With this new land expansion came new restaurants…

… rides….

Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs

… and super-themed buildings and characters that really make you feel like you’ve stepped into the very streets of the kingdom of Arendelle.

Look how cute!

World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland also received another version of a ride we’ve seen at Disney World in Florida first known as Frozen Ever After.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Disney has borrowed or completely copied rides between parks. Shanghai Disneyland and Disney World now both share twin versions of TRON Lightcycle/ Run even though they’re completely different parks.

So while there’s still a lot left to be discovered about Disney’s plans for what we could expect of the new areas created by DisneylandForward once (and if) it’s approved, we think we may already have a good hunch about what we’ll see!

We’ll continue updating you on the progress of DisneylandForward and any future plans for expansion and changes at Disneyland, so be sure to stay tuned with us for all the latest updates.
