ALERT! A Popular Airline Is RETURNING to the Orlando Airport!

One of the biggest questions you will need to answer when you are planning a Disney World trip is how you are going to get there.

Orlando Airport

Depending on where you live, you may have a couple of options, or if you are farther away, you may be more limited. One option you may consider is flying into Orlando, and we have some good news if you are looking for a cheaper way to fly!

While we have known that Allegiant Airlines would be returning to Orlando International Airport for a while, it is almost time for these routes to start. Allegiant Airlines will be returning to Orlando International Airport for the first time since 2011 and will be flying routes to three cities.

These cities include Asheville, North Carolina; Allentown, Pennsylvania; and Knoxville, Tennessee. According to WFTV9, service to all three of these cities will begin in May on the following dates:

  • Asheville service begins on May 3rd
  • Allentown service begins on May 16th
  • Knoxville service begins on May 17th

It is always exciting when new routes to Orlando Airport begin, especially when it means an airline is finally returning! Allegiant Airlines is a budget airline with flights as low as $49 one way. The airline also offers flight out of Orlando-Sanford International Airport, so make sure you know which airport you are flying from.

While you can still get to Disney World from Orlando-Sanford International Airport, you will be in for a bit longer of a journey. The drive time is close to an hour from Sanford-International Airport versus about 25 minutes from Orlando International Airport. However, it never hurts to check flights from both airports as you may be able to find a good deal.

Now that Allegiant is returning to Orlando Airport, here are a few quick tips for traveling through the Orlando Airport (or MCO as many people call it). Make sure you are arriving to the airport at least three hours early. Take advantage of TSA Precheck OR reserve your slot at security ahead of time with MCO Reserve. We also recommend downloading both the MCO app and the app for your airline. These will help you get up to date information as you travel!
