If you ask us, it’s always a good time to plan a trip to a theme park.
But, summer will be here before we know it, and you might be thinking about planning a trip to Disney World or Universal Orlando. In fact, Universal just announced quite a few new offerings and perks coming to the resort — but if you’re thinking about booking a vacation, we have an important hotel update you need to know about!
Universal Orlando is home to several hotels at multiple different price points, so chances are you might be able to find something that works for your budget. One of their Premier (A.K.A. the fanciest and most expensive) hotels is Loews Portofino Bay — inspired by an Italian seaside village, which is reflected in the immersive theming.
It’s no wonder why you would want to book a stay at this resort, but there’s one thing you need to know — Portofino Bay will be undergoing quite a lengthy refurbishment soon.
According to information on the Southwest Airlines website, beginning in June 2023, the hotel will begin updates to the exterior facade “to maintain the immersive experience of [our] Italian village.” The repairs will be taking place during business hours from 9AM to 6PM, and guests of the hotel may hear some noise.
The refurbishment is expected to last through June 2025, so it’s something you should keep on your radar for a while if you’ve got a trip planned. The good news is that you won’t have to worry about any noise while you’re getting some much-needed sleep at night!

Could you please provide an update on the construction at Portofino Bay. I have a vacation booked there for September, 2023 and am wondering what part of the resort will be affected when we are there, or if I should cancel for someplace else. Thank you.
