You might already be thinking ahead to your 2024 Disney World trip. If you are, there are some very important things you’ll need to know about next year — which attractions will be closed and when!

Fuentes del Morro Pool (January-Late March 2024)

The Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be closed for refurbishment on January 9th. The other 5 pools at this hotel will still be open, though.

Disney Skyliner (January 16th-January 27th)

All routes of the Disney Skyliner will close for refurbishment from January 16th through 21st. The routes between Caribbean Beach Resort and Riviera Resort and EPCOT will be closed a little longer — through January 27th.

Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids, a water attraction in the Asia land at Animal Kingdom, will be temporarily closed starting January 8th, 2023. Disney will often shut down water rides during colder months to perform regular maintenance and do any necessary repairs or refurbishments. We’re not sure how long the refurbishment will last at this time, but earlier this year the ride was closed for a little over one month. In 2021 and 2022, the ride closure lasted closer to two months. We’ll be keeping an eye out for updates on when the 2024 reopening might happen.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is closing for refurbishment on January 16th. But don’t worry because it won’t be closed for long. It’s scheduled to reopen on January 22nd.

Blizzard Beach (TBD Spring 2024)

We don’t have concrete dates for this one, but we can expect that Blizzard Beach will be closing sometime in the spring of 2024. There are two water parks at Disney World (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) and they’ve been playing a one-on, one-off dance for a while, so when Blizzard Beach closes, we’ll see Typhoon Lagoon open back up. We’ll let you know once we get those dates so that you can plan on hitting up the right rides. (Just keep in mind that when one park is closed, that means ALL of its attractions are inaccessible.)

Country Bears Jamboree (TBD 2024)

At the 2023 Destination D23, Disney shared that major changes are in store for the Country Bears Jamboree in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The Frontierland attraction will be getting a makeover in 2024. The Country Bears will be learning some new songs and performing a new act. The new show takes inspiration from classic Nashville variety shows. We know that the change is coming in 2024, but at the moment, we don’t know when. We’ll update you as soon as the closing and reopening dates are released!

Splash Mountain (Permanently Closed 2023)

We’ve been tracking all the construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for a while now which is taking the place of the permanently closed Splash Mountain. The new ride is set to open in “Late 2024” but we don’t have a definitive date at the moment, so if you’re coming before the fall, this ride is almost guaranteed to still be closed.

It’s Tough To Be A Bug? (Possible Closure 2024)

Another attraction closure we learned about at this year’s Destination D23 is It’s Tough to be a Bug! in Animal Kingdom. We know for sure that it’s going to be replaced with a new Zootopia show, but we don’t know when the closure will happen. It could be as early as 2024. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn more.

Test Track (Possible Closure 2024)

Test Track, over at EPCOT, is also going to get a retheming. Currently, there’s no schedule on when the retheme will happen. It could start in 2024, or we’ll see that the ride happened to stay open the entire year and then start in 2025. Either way, we’ll let you know the moment we know more.

DINOSAUR (Possible Closure 2024)

Last up, and more in the speculation zone is the potential for a closure of DINOSAUR in Animal Kingdom. Word from Disney is that they are hinting that an all-new Indiana Jones attraction could arrive in Animal Kingdom, possibly replacing DINOSAUR. While it’s probably not likely to have a closure in 2024, there’s always the remote possibility. We’ll keep you updated!
