There’s a lot of different food in Disney World, and that’s a great thing…until it isn’t.

Listen, I’m all for adventurous eating. I think it’s safe to say I’m the most adventurous eater on the AllEars team, but there are still some offerings in Disney World that are just TOO adventurous for me. So if you find yourself in front of these plates, beware.

Dried Crabs from Mitsukoshi

Number one on my list is something I will (unfortunately) never forget, and those are the Dried Crabs from Mitsukoshi in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion.

I’m a big seafood lover, and dried food isn’t something I’m opposed to trying, but dried crabs is a BIG no in my book. The texture is just not what you’d expect to be paired with the taste of crab, and it really throws you off. If you’re feeling really bold, give them a try, but otherwise, steer clear.

Sushi Boat at Shiki Sai

Shiki Sai: Sushi Izakaya is one of the newest restaurants in EPCOT, and now one of the most expensive. Breedlove, Emma, and I spent $500 eating there a few months ago, and while most of it was delicious, the $300 Sushi Boat has ended up on this list, too.

The boat is an assortment of sushi and sashimi that feeds 4-6 people, and this was when I learned that there is such a thing as too much sushi. After a while, it got so overwhelming texture-wise, that I was pretty sure I never wanted to eat sushi again (or at least for the next few days).

The Sea Urchin and Seaweed at Takumi Tei

Speaking of expensive restaurants, Takumi Tei is up on that list too! Breedlove and I ate here a little over a year ago, and while it was a very impressive meal overall, the Sea Urchin and Seaweed is not something I’d like to revisit.

The sea urchin was incredibly fishy (and you know that’s saying something when a seafood lover says that), and the seaweed was just bordering on too much. When you’re dining at a multi-course meal, any version of “too much” isn’t a great thing.

Mushroom Dish at Monsieur Paul

A lot of these more adventurous dishes are located in Disney’s finer dining establishments since the parks are known for more mundane dishes. Over at Monsieur Paul, the Ceps Mushrooms with Roasted Vegetables is something I wouldn’t recommend.

To put it simply, it had a funky taste and was too slimy for me, which both weren’t things I was expecting of a Mushroom Dish. Especially if you’re sensitive to textures, this is a dish I’d recommend skipping.

Wagyu from Victoria & Albert’s

This next one may depend on your palette, but I wasn’t a fan of the Wagyu from Victoria & Albert’s, which is the most expensive meal in all of Disney World, for one simple reason.

It was just too rich for me! This came as a little bit of a surprise, since the rest of the meal was fantastic, but it’s a course I’d skip if I ever dined here again.

Outpost Popcorn Mix

Heading out of fine dining, I’m also really not a fan of the Outpost Popcorn Mix from Kat Saka’s Kettle in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

I know I’m not alone in this one either, this is a pretty controversial snack. Fruity and spicy is an interesting combination, similar to sweet and spicy/sour/salty, but as it turns out, it’s really not for me. I find it to be really off-putting, and don’t think they compliment each other the way they’re supposed to.

Candied Bacon Skewer

Over in Magic Kingdom, I just can’t get myself to enjoy the Candied Bacon Skewer from Westward Ho Refreshments.

I talked about this last year, too, but I’ll mention it again because I want you to save your money. Bacon is usually something I love, and I don’t mind it being candied and adding a sweet note to it. However, any time I’ve gotten this treat, it’s been a super fatty piece of bacon that ends up being the complete opposite of what I was expecting. Maybe some day it’ll redeem itself, but that day is not today.

Happabore Sampler

We’re jumping back to Hollywood Studios for my last one, but it’s certainly not the least. I can’t tell you how much I want the Happapore Sampler at Oga’s Cantina to impress me, but it never does.

This is essentially an overpriced space Charcuterie board where you have no idea what you’re eating in the low light, but you’re just hoping it’ll be decent and worth the egregious amount of money you just spent on it. Save your money, friends. It’s not terrible, but it’s really not worth the price.

So, to my fellow adventurous eaters out there, there are some great, unique options you can find all around Disney World, but these 8 are not some of them to me. Some of my favorite dishes, though, can be found at the EPCOT Festivals that happen throughout the year, at Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom, and Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
