So you’ve made it to Disney World and you’re ready to ride your favorite ride or you’re ready to ride something for the first time that you’ve been really excited about.
So you’re walking down Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom and you’re checking ride wait times on the My Disney Experience app, but then you see the ride is closed — you keep checking, but it remains closed for a while. What should you do?
Unfortunately, rides do unexpectedly go down in Disney World, and there’s not a lot you can do to prevent that. However, when a ride does go down and it’s one that’s a priority for you, your best bet is to keep a close eye on that ride in the My Disney Experience app to catch it when reopens. If you catch it early enough, you may manage to get a short wait time to ride it. The good news is that when rides go down, they usually come back up.
For example, a lot of folks count on rope dropping Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but yesterday, this ride was closed from park open until noon. That’s a whole morning. So it’s also always good to have a backup plan, especially at rope drop. Have a few other rides you’d be willing to rope drop if one of your priority rides is closed.
