5 Reasons to Take the Skyliner to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Even If You Aren’t Staying There

The Disney Skyliner is our favorite mode of transportation at Disney World.

Disney Skyliner

It’s a fun ride in the sky that takes you to two Disney parks and four resorts (but many more if you could the EPCOT resorts at International Gateway). You can grab a coffee from Joffrey’s and head to the gondola for a day in Hollywood Studios.

But even if you’re not staying at one of the four hotels associated with the Skyliner, we still suggest visiting them. Today, we have FIVE reasons why you should jump on the Skyliner and fly over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort even if you’re not staying there.

Our resident hotel expert Quincy filmed a tour of the resort, and you can watch it right here.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is right at the Skyliner hub, which makes it easy to get to from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. It is a VERY large resort with most of it spread out around a 42-acre lake.

The rooms are in several 2-story buildings that are named for different areas of the Caribbean: Barbados, Martinique, Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad North, and Trinidad South. It truly is a beautiful resort, and its spread-out design is part of the reason we think you should make a trip!

So here are the five reasons we think you would enjoy visiting the Caribbean Beach Resort even if you’re not staying there.

Take a Relaxing Walk on the Beach

Since this resort is named the Caribbean Beach Resort you would probably guess that there would be a beach here, and you would be right. All around the lake called Barefoot Bay, you’ll find a 1.1-mile promenade right along the beaches.

The promenade connects to many winding paths that lead to the rooms and common areas. This is a great area to take a break from all the bustling crowds and unwind with a relaxing walk barefoot through the sands.

Caribbean Cay Island

In the middle of the lake, there is Caribbean Cay Island which is connected to the promenade by a footbridge on both sides. Here you can find other relaxing locations like hammocks and picnic areas.

This could be a great place to curl up with a good book or take a nap if you just need a quick break from EPCOT crowds. Caribbean Cay also has a playground for younger kids to let off some steam away from all the people.

It’s quite a dreamy location that we’re very fond of for some relaxing space. And the views aren’t bad either.

This is a great reason to catch the Skyliner over to the resort for a quick visit.

Fishing

The Caribbean Beach Resort is one of the several Disney resorts where you can go on a catch-and-release fishing excursion! If you’re an experienced angler or just want to try fishing for the first time, you can catch a boat from Caribbean Cay Island and try your hand at bass fishing.

We don’t suggest fishing like Goofy…

This guided experience is a fun way to experience Disney beyond the parks and let’s be honest, a good way to escape the crowds even for a bit.

Banana Cabana

Banana Cabana is the pool bar at the Caribbean Resort and it is a great reason to travel to the hotel all on its own. It has delicious food and drinks including a few new options recently added to the menu.

From spicy ribs to a signature burger the food is delicious and the Caribbean drinks here are fantastic. This is certainly a good reason to visit the resort!

Mixed Grill Platter at Centertown Market

Centertown Market is located in Old Port Royale, the main building at the resort, from 6AM to midnight. It has several counters with varying food selections. But our favorite food item here is the Mixed Grill Platter.

Centertown Market

The platter serves up delicious marinated chicken, barbecued pork ribs, and grilled andouille sausage. It’s also served with fried yucca, seasonal vegetables, mango coleslaw, and a roll. We can’t believe we’re saying this but we almost like it more than Polite Pig. So if you’re in the mood for a tasty meat platter, jump on the Skyliner and visit the Caribbean Beach Resort!

Centertown Market Pickup

We’re pretty certain you won’t be disappointed by visiting this resort. If you need to get away from all the people or you have an extra day without a ticket, we think you would enjoy walking around the Caribbean Beach Resort!
