Disney Is Asking Some VERY Personal Questions in New Survey

Disney tries to provide the best experiences they can for their guests.

If you’ve ever been to Disney World, then you’ve probably received a survey from the company shortly after your trip. Disney is constantly seeking guest input for how the parks operate. By sharing your opinion and information, you could make a difference in the parks for others. After a recent trip to EPCOT, we received a survey that we found to have some more personal questions than usual.

The survey started in the usual way by getting our demographics and trip details like where we stayed and the purpose of our trip. Then it asked us which parks we visited on our trip. But the answer options also included non-Disney parks like Universal Orlando and SeaWorld.

Then the survey went on to ask about transportation to and from the park. But then another question piqued our interest. They asked us if we had used any of the Genie, Genie+, or Lightning Lane services. Could this be an indication that they are working on updating or changing these services? We do know that Disney plans to implement some sort of changes to Genie+ in 2024.

The survey continued by asking questions specifically about our trip, tickets, and planning, but we ran into another question. At the beginning of the survey, they had asked about our own demographics like age, language, and gender. In the middle of the survey, they asked us about the gender identity of everyone in our party.

They also asked us if we were subscribers to any memberships and streaming services. Then they asked who was the primary account holder on each of the subscriptions. Netflix has recently cracked down on password sharing and Disney+ is starting to in certain areas.

Then they asked us which news sources we typically use. They listed nearly two pages of potential news sources.

They ended the survey with more demographic questions including asking if anyone in the party identified as part of the LGTBQIA+ community.

Overall, it ended up being a fairly long survey, but we found many of the questions to be interesting and more personal than past surveys.

  1. So a year or more back and I wouldn’t have thought twice about this. Figuring Disney wants to know if their efforts at inclusivity are paying off. But in the current climate, I am not so sure Disney, itself, is collecting this information. I’d be worried DeSantis’ folks are doing this and their intent is not so honorable or straightforward. On the other hand Disney may be trying to show the LGBTQ+ community is already part of their customer base and they aren’t going to alienate them to appease DeSantis.
