7 Extinct Foods We Wish Disney Would Bring Back ASAP

Most people go to Disney World for the rides and shows.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

And then there’s us at All Ears who frequently go for the food! Disney World food is some of the best. It’s great because they mix things up all the time so there are new options every time we go! But this rotating of the menus can also bring us heartbreak when they take away our favorites. So in memory of many of the best food items, we’ve created a list of 7 extinct foods (and one food booth) we wish they would bring back to Disney World.

 McDonald’s Fries

Way back before 2006, you could be walking through Magic Kingdom and find a McDonald’s stand where you could order some hot and fresh McDonald’s French Fries.

McDonald’s Adult Happy Meal

But since 2006, you can no longer find any McDonald’s food inside of the parks. While there is a McDonald’s located on Disney World property, there are no more salty, crispy golden fries in Magic Kingdom.

Key Lime Pie on a Stick

Things just taste better when they’re on a stick, and that certainly goes for key lime pie. You used to be able to get this tangy dessert over in Hollywood Studios at Neighborhood Bakery but not any longer.

Sadly, this blue marvel is no longer available in Disney World. It used to be a welcome cooling and fresh relief from the sun, but now it has become extinct.

Poison Candied Apple

This 2020 fall snack featured apple and caramel mousse covered in red glaze with a crunchy candy base. It was immaculate. You could find it in Hollywood Studios at the Trolley Car Café.

Poison Candied Apple

Little did we know then that it would be gone forever. Since then, Disney has come out with a new variety of it called the Not So Poison Apple at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. And while the new version is good, it just isn’t the same.

We miss the OG Poison Candied Apple.

Peanut Butter Pie

The Peanut Butter Pie at the Contempo Café in Disney’s Contemporary Resort was a smooth peanut butter cream cheese filling on top of a layer of vanilla cream, all inside a vanilla tart shell and drizzled with chocolate ganache. If that doesn’t have your mouth watering, we’re not sure what will!

Contempo Café

For peanut butter lovers, this was the epitome of the perfect snack. It was mouthwatering and delicious. Unfortunately, it left so the Peanut Butter-Banana Pie could make its debut for the 50th Anniversary. Maybe we’ll get lucky now that the anniversary is over and the original Peanut Butter Pie will make a comeback.

Seafood Mac & Cheese

This was a seafood delicacy. You got a hearty portion of creamy mac & cheese and then they topped it with shrimp and lobster. It was a gooey, cheesy, hearty meal that has now disappeared.

Columbia Harbour House

This used to be found at Columbia Harbour House, but not any longer. While they still have great options, we will miss this fantastic seafood dish.

Beaver Tails

Many years ago, you could find an authentic Canadian dessert in EPCOT, the Beaver Tail. These were deep-fried pastries that were shaped like the animal’s tail then covered in sugar and cinnamon or topped with chocolate or Nutella and extra toppings.

Beaver Tails

Some might know similar treats by alternate names such as elephant ears or fried dough. But in Canada, they are beaver tails, and you used to be able to get them in EPCOT. It has been quite a while since we’ve seen these delicious fried pastries in the park. They would be perfect at the Canada pavilion where they were once found, and we’re not really sure why Disney took them away.

Cake Cups

Over in Wonderland, ah we mean Magic Kingdom, you could stop by the Cheshire Cafe and grab yourself a Cheshire Cake Cup. These were once cakes in a cup, similar to a personal-sized trifle.

How could you possibly go wrong with cake in a cup? They had different flavors of this moist, sweet dessert cup. And seriously, Disney, we want them back!

Light Lab

So this last one on our list isn’t really a food we want back but instead a whole Food & Wine Festival booth that has gone missing. The Light Lab used to be a fun, family-friendly experience that was showcased during the festival. It featured fun “science” drinks that glowed in the dark.

EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

It was a cool booth for those who got to enjoy it. Unfortunately, it was so short-lived not everyone who wanted to see it got to. So we think Disney should bring it back for some added entertainment to the festival.

Spaceship Earth

While we’ve seen a few items try to replace a couple of these, nothing will be the same as the original treats. We hope Disney brings some, if not all, of these items back to Disney World.

In the meantime, be sure to follow All Ears for new Disney updates!

  1. Key Lime Pie on a Stick is definitely something I’d like back. Also, Cheese Danish from The Mara(& other places), Churro Marshmallow Mickey from the shop on the Boardwalk & The sweet shop in Main Street, Chocolate coated pineapple, beef sandwich from Kringla Bakery, the roasted vegetable sandwich from Backlot Express, the Eggplant Parmigiana at somewhere in Future World (I’m talking 1990s here) & every fixings bar that they took away during COVID.

  2. I wish they’d bring back the chocolate covered pineapples, and the chocolate covered marshmallows on a stick garnished with reese’s pieces. My two favorites, gone.

  3. I miss bigly Kringa bake shop in Norway. Not for desserts, the meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce. We loved them. In Magic Kingdom at the Golden Nugget wagon the deep fried corn nuggets. No one else liked them so I hogged them all. I hope they keep the Wookie Cookie at Backlot. Remember that quaint bookstore owned by Ellen? Delicious carrot cake with thick filling. I don’t know what it was, maybe cream cheese or buttercream? Morocco puts out amazing baklava. And here’s a question- am I the only one who when leaving Japan store out the back way mistakingly said “look at the Great Wall of China!” Even though I said it ten years ago, my family never forgets to bring it up they think it’s so hilarious

  4. Cake cups were so good. First thing we would get when we arrived at our resort would be a chocolate cake for me and carrot cake for the hubby. Can’t find any snack cake anywhere in the world as good as these were.
