6 New CLUES About the HUGE Fort Wilderness Cabin Makeover in Disney World

It’s no secret that a ton of changes are coming to Disney World in 2024. New restaurants, rides, rules, and more are on their way to the parks and resorts, and we can’t wait to check it all out.

Disney also announced that the Fort Wilderness cabins would undergo a lengthy refurbishment to modernize the space and provide more of a Deluxe Resort feel. We’ve already had a sneak peek at some of the concept art, but now we’re really digging in to uncover some clues!

These refurbished cabins are slated to open in summer 2024, so mark your calendars! Each cabin is set to offer enough space for 6 adults to sleep. There will be a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. Plus, a select number of cabins are expected to be dog-friendly, and you don’t have to be a DVC member to stay here!

The cabins have a much more modern look, with vertical lines, siding, and wood tones to keep the cabin vibe. There is a slanted roofline that offers the opportunity for more light to come in through those high windows. We also love the sliding glass doors which will allow you to feel like you’re outside — even when you’re still indoors. You’ll also have access to a private patio.

On the interior, we can see that there will be a decently sized living space next to the dining room and a full kitchen. There is a small amount of seating in the living area, and it’s also where you’ll find the fold-out bed for this space (at least we’re assuming so based on the handles on the wall.) Yep — right next to the kitchen.

We’re also detecting some subtle references to Chip ‘n’ Dale here, which would make sense since those two are pretty synonymous with this resort.

The cabin vibe really comes through once you get to the bedroom! The bunk beds are just iconic — especially if you’re looking for some summer camp nostalgia while you’re staying here. Each bunk features its own scenic piece of artwork that helps to tie the whole look together.

It also looks like these rooms will feature the new Hey Disney! Amazon Alexa Device. We spy some Chip ‘n’ Dale art on the wall above the larger bed — further supporting our theme idea.

We’ve got a better look at the art above the couch from this rendering — and it looks like Mickey and Pluto are bringing their camper for a visit. The blue ottoman/stool looks like it likely opens up for storage, but there will hopefully be more places to store your items.

There is a large dining table in the full kitchen which appears to feature a dishwasher, oven and stove, microwave, full refrigerator, and more. We don’t have a great look at the bathroom, but it shows a single-sink vanity and mirror — we suspect the shower or tub is to the left.

Keep in mind that these are just artist concept renderings, which means they can ultimately be changed to whatever Disney has in mind. For now, though, we’ll keep an eye out for more details and photos about this refurbishment!
