8 Beloved Things I Secretly Cringe at in Disney World

Listen, Disney World is pure magic!

Cinderella Castle

But even with all of that magic and pixie dust, there are a couple of things that make even the most seasoned of Disney pros cringe just a bit. Thinking about that, we wanted to find out from you what things you secretly cringe at in Disney World. We asked, and you delivered!

We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What is something beloved by many people at Disney World that makes you cringe?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

Now, let’s go over your top responses!

Turkey Legs

Sure these juicy monsters are a Disney classic, but the thought of gnawing on a giant turkey leg can be off-putting for some, and the vast majority of you mentioned that they’re basically your kryptonite. (Over 300 of you responded this way.)

Turkey Leg

Let’s take a look at what you said:

  • “I would have to go with the turkey leg.”
  • “Turkey legs!! Have no idea how people can walk around eating those things. Ugh. Lol”

Bubble Wands

In general, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little bubble magic, but let’s be real — they can be quite a nuisance. (Over 100 of you responded this way.)

Bubble Wands

Let’s take a look at what you said:

  • “BUBBLE WANDS! better yet parents who let their kids use bubble wands in lines.”
  • “Bubble wands on auto around people eating food at outdoor tables and the wind blows them towards the people and their food and parents are like, it’s Disney, they’re only bubbles.”

People understand that you have to enjoy yourself while at Disney World, but maybe there could be a “bubble wand zone” that would keep the fun contained. Just a thought.

Star Wars

Now this one might feel a touch controversial, but there are some Disney purists that believe Star Wars doesn’t quite fit the Disney mold. (Over 60 of you responded this way.)

Galaxy’s Edge

Here’s what you said:

  • “Star Wars doesn’t belong at Disney!”
  • “Star Wars. Mostly because it took over the park.”

Drinking Around the World

EPCOT’s World Showcase is definitely a celebration of culture, but sometimes when you’re “drinking around the world,” things can turn into a different kind of experience. (Over 60 of you responded this way.)

Let’s Drink Around the World!

Here’s what you said:

  • “Drinking around the world. Epcot is more like Bourbon Street these days.”
  • “Epcot is my first love and my favorite park, but even I resort to calling it “drunk-cot” now. Such a shame.”
  • “Drinking around the world at EPCOT. The people who drink too much.”

Maybe there should be a different challenge like “sipping around the world” instead?

Mouse Ears on Adults

This is a personal one, but there’s just something about seeing grown-ups in mouse ears, and many of you felt that it’s just a bit too much. (Over 50 of you responded this way.)

Minnie Mouse Lollipop Ear Headband for Adults – Disney Eats

Let’s take a look at what you said:

  • “Mouse ears on adults (shows self out). 😂”

This one was a bit more tongue-in-cheek, and the decision is completely up to you, especially if the mouse ears are completing your DisneyBound look. But if not, maybe consider a more subtle Disney-themed headwear for the Disney Adult.

Popcorn Buckets

Listen, popcorn buckets are 100% a Disney staple, but to be perfectly honest, they’re also pretty impractical. (Over 50 of you responded this way.)

The new bucket!

Here’s what you said:

  • “Popcorn buckets. I just don’t care enough to collect em.”
  • “Popcorn buckets… they are super cute and all, but the second I see them I think about how I would have to make room in my kitchen cupboards for something that will wind up at Goodwill.”

Maybe a commemorative pin or a pressed penny would be a more practical (and space-saving) souvenir?

Starbucks

Disney World is brimming with unique and unforgettable dining experiences, from Cinderella’s Royal Table to Sanaa. So why settle for a chain you can find on practically any street corner? (Over 50 of you responded this way.)

Spicy Strawberry Lemonade Refresher

Here let’s take a look at what you said:

  • “Not a popular answer but Starbucks on Main Street.”
  • “Starbucks – you can get that anywhere”

If you want a truly unique experience while at Disney World, maybe skip the Starbucks and opt for something you normally wouldn’t try!

Figment

Last up, you wanted to talk about one of the most celebrated characters at Disney World — Figment. There might not be a character with a more devoted fanbase. But the little purple dragon can be a bit divisive. (Over 40 of you responded this way.)

Figment

Here let’s take a look at what you said:

  •  “Figment! The ride and the character just 😖😖😖”
  • “Figment. I just don’t get it”

Whatever the reason, Figment seems to elicit some cringe from a portion of you. Hey, even Figment can’t please everyone!
