Why Haven’t They Banned These Disney World Ride Hacks Yet?

When you go to Disney World, you probably want to ride as many rides as possible.

While there are different “hacks” for making the most of your day and getting on a number of rides, there are some hacks that we are still shocked Disney has not banned, but we are not complaining! We can’t lie. We are guilty of doing these three ride hacks, and they may help you on your next trip.

Of course, you can pay for Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane entry, which are Disney’s pay-to-skip-the-line services, to make the most of your park day. You can even “stack” Lightning Lanes to help you get on more rides, but these three hacks don’t even require you to pay for Genie+.

Now let’s take a look at these three ride hacks that we are shocked are still around.

Requesting a Certain Row

Do you ever ride Soarin’ Around the World and think to yourself, “Man, I wish the Eiffel Tower was not leaning.”? Well there is actually a way you can avoid the leaning Eiffel Tower and get a better seat.

Soarin’

Did you know that you can request which row you want to sit in? As we said, request means that what you ask for is not always guaranteed, as Cast Members are also trying to help other people board attractions quickly and efficiently. It still never hurts to ask!

Soarin’ Around the World

On Soarin’ Around the World, we like to request Section  B, Row 1, because it is straight on, which means nothing gets warped. Row 1 also goes the highest, which means you won’t have any feet dangling in your view. If you want to be lower but still straight on, you can request Section B, Row 3, as this row is still straight on.

You can request a row and section

On Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, we like to request the back row since you can feel the drops more. It is called the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” for good reason!

On Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, we like to ask for Row 9 or Row 10 because these rows allow you to see the show elements better. Since this attraction is an omni-mover attraction that spins, Row 9 and Row 10 set your ride vehicle up with better views to enjoy all the details in the ride that you might not see from other rows.

Getting in Line Before Park Close

Disney World at night can be so magical. The weather starts to cool off, the parks begin to empty, and the lights around the park add to the vibe and overall atmosphere.

Spaceship Earth

Nighttime is a great time to visit those last-minute attractions before the park closes, and using this hack, you may even be able to squeeze in one more attraction.

Tree of Life at Night

You can get in line for an attraction right before the park closes. Let’s say Magic Kingdom closes at 10 PM, and it is 9:59 PM and you just pulled up to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you can still get in line!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at night

It does not matter how long the line is. As long as you are in the queue before the park closes, you will still get to ride the attraction!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Queue

This is a great hack to use if a line is too long in the middle of the day because you can save precious park time waiting in line. Instead, you can wait til the end of the day and wait in line when the park is closed.

Test Track at night

If you use this hack, be safe and do not run to the attraction. Also, be kind to Cast Members. If you do not make it before the park closes, it is their job to close the line, and it is nothing personal. If timed correctly, this hack could help you squeeze one more attraction into your park day.

Getting Three Virtual Queues in One Day

Virtual Queues are available for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run. These attractions are so popular that Disney uses the Virtual Queue system to maintain attraction wait times. This means that the only way to ride these two rides is either by getting a Boarding Group by joining the Virtual Queue or by paying for an Individual Lightning Lane.

Step By Step Guide for TRON Lightcycle / Run’s Virtual Queue

TRON Lightcycle / Run

You can use the My Disney Experience app at 7 AM each day to try to reserve your spot in one of these queues. At 7 AM, when you join the queue, you do not need to be in the park.

The queue opens up at 1 PM again, but for this one, you must be inside the park of the attraction you are going for.

You can only join the queue for each attraction once a day, meaning you cannot ride TRON Lightcycle / Run twice by using Virtual Queue, except with this one exception to the rule.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

If you are planning to attend an after-hours event like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, or are staying at a Deluxe Resort with Extended Evening Hours access, you can get in a third Virtual Queue.

Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

At 6 PM, this third queue opens for TRON Lightcycle / Run for anyone who will be in the Magic Kingdom “after hours.” This is not offered all the time and is only offered to those who are attending a party, an after-hours event, or when there are Extended Evening hours for those staying at a Deluxe Resort. For some Extended Evening Hour nights, TRON Lightcycle / Run has a stand-by line rather than a Virtual Queue line, so this hack depends on the day and type of after-hours event.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

For the 6 PM drop, you do not have to be in the park as long as you either:

1. Have an After-Hours Event Ticket

2. Have a Magic Kingdom Park Reservation

3. Have a Park Hopper Ticket, and you already scanned into your first park

We hope you can use a few of these ride hacks the next time you go to Disney World as we cross our fingers that Disney will still allow them.
