How Much Will a Lightning Lane Cost for Disney World’s NEW Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Ride?

It was recently announced that guests will be able to go down the bayou with Tiana later this summer at Disney World.

When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in the summer of 2024, it will be Disney World’s newest attraction, which is bound to draw long lines. This makes us wonder if Individual Lightning Lanes will be offered and how much they will cost.

Just in case you aren’t familiar, Disney World does offer ways to ride its most popular rides without waiting in lines that could stretch to hours. When the past few brand-new rides have opened at Disney World, they have offered a Virtual Queue you can enter with through the My Disney Experience app on your phone. This allows you to wait in line “virtually” until your group number is called. Virtual Queues are free, but they are also pretty limited.

There are currently two rides with Virtual Queues in Disney World — TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom, and Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. Virtual Queues open at 7AM each morning, and they can fill up within a couple of minutes. There is another chance to get a Virtual Queue for these rides at 1PM each day, and you need to be in the park where the ride is located to get in on that one. There is also a later Virtual Queue drop for these parks on the days they offer Extended Evening Hours — a perk for those staying in Disney World’s deluxe hotels.

TRON Virtual Queue

If you can’t get in on the free Virtual Queue, you can also pay to reserve a ride by buying an “Individual Lightning Lane.” Besides TRON and the Guardians ride, there are three more rides that currently offer Individual Lightning Lanes — Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, AVATAR Flight of Passage, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. You purchase Individual Lightning Lanes through the same Disney World app, paying a fee that typically runs between $11-$25 for each rider. When you buy an Individual Lightning Lane, you are given a specific window of time that day during which you can get on the ride with a short wait, or — if you’re lucky — no wait at all.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

And yes, those two ways of “skipping the line” are different than Disney Genie+. Genie+ charges one fee per person, per day, to make reservations to ride a bunch of rides at Disney World. There are rules about when and how many of these reservations you can make, and you can read lots more about that here. But the Individual Lightning Lane rides are not part of Disney Genie+ — you have to pay a separate price to skip the wait on them.

New rides that have been introduced have opened with Individual Lightning Lanes, and we have seen some rides — like Frozen Ever After, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Space Mountain — added to the regular Genie+ and taken off the Individual Lightning Lane roster as newer rides have been introduced.

While it has not been announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will use Virtual Queues or Individual Lightning Lanes, we think it’s pretty safe to assume this new Magic Kingdom ride will follow the same pattern established when TRON and Guardians opened. That is, the ride will be available through a Virtual Queue or an Individual Lightning Lane purchase.

So how much will it cost? The price for a TRON Lightcycle / Run Individual Lightning Lane has stayed consistent at around $20 per person. In our experience paying for a TRON Lightcycle / Run Individual Lightning Lane has helped us save so much time in the parks. As a heads up, these tend to sell out quickly each morning.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

Another recent attraction to use the same queue system is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The price for an Individual Lightning Lane to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has on average been between $14-$17 a person.

So what does this mean for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Disney has still not announced whether Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will offer a virtual queue or an Individual Lightning Lane. Based on previous trends of new attractions opening, we are predicting that it will use both. Based on the data of prices from TRON Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, we expect pricing for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to be similar. We think that the cost for an Individual Lightning Lane will stay close to $20 per person, especially when the ride first opens.

  1. Should be on regular genie+ , it’s not really a new ride, is just a new overlay. The mechanics and even the boats are the same old 30+ yr old ride.
