We’ve warned you about LOTS of things around Disney World.
We’ve given you warnings against things like price increases, policy changes, and even when to plan your next Disney World visit. But even our experience probably wouldn’t prepare you for what you’ll experience if you step into Magic Kingdom at a specific time during the day.
There are lots of different opinions on when is the best time to start your day at Magic Kingdom, so for the sake of time, we’ll be referring to one specific time of the day.
As you arrive at Magic Kingdom and walk underneath the massive train station you’ll be instantly transported to Main Street, U.S.A. of old. These mid-century buildings are made to make you feel as if you’ve stepped out into Walt’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri, and come right on home.
At the end of the street, Cinderella Castle beckons you on in further to take you off to one of the other 5 lands beyond the hub out front but something stops you dead in your tracks — the crowds!
Yep, that’s right! You probably can’t see past your own arm’s length during a certain time of day when Main Street U.S.A. is notoriously crowded and for good reason.
The Festival of Fantasy Parade performs once a day starting in Frontierland…
… and makes its way down around the roundabout in front of Cinderella Castle…
… and right down Main Street, U.S.A. Since it usually only performs once during the entire day (usually at 3PM), people will line the streets in massive crowds to catch a glimpse of some of their favorite characters.
For those who are just arriving at the park, this could be a huge problem! And you’ll either be stuck in place to watch as the parade comes through and eventually passes by, or you’ll have to get creative with a way to bob and weave through the crowds (and shops) to get to another section of the park.
Even if you have the bright idea to just hop on the train at Main Street Station, chances are you’ll just have to wait until the entire parade crosses the starting point at Frontierland before your train conductor will be given the all-clear to head out for the Frontierland train station (its next stop).
Our best advice is to arrive before the parade begins or give yourself some time afterward (and a bit more to let the crowd fizzle out) before you try to enter the park, and you could save yourself a nightmarish ordeal!
