Tokyo Disney Resort might just be getting ready to open its massive new expansion at Tokyo DisneySea, Fantasy Springs, but that’s not the only thing NEW coming to the parks. Tokyo Disneyland will soon be getting a new attraction based on the Wreck-It Ralph movies.

Tokyo Disneyland recently announced that it would be closing its version of Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters in Tomorrowland and replacing it with a new family-friendly attraction based on Wreck-It Ralph. The new ride will still be an “interactive gameplay” experience, though.

In the new ride, the candy-themed racing game from Wreck-It Ralph is being attacked by Sugar Bugs, which are glitches being caused by King Candy. On the ride, you’ll join Ralph and Vanellope to turn the Sugar Bugs back to their original selves as cute cookies and cakes.

Based on Tokyo Disney’s description, it sounds like the new ride will keep many of the same mechanics of Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, which includes using blasters on the ride vehicle to shoot at targets, in this case, the Sugar Bugs. We’re assuming this also means that each hit on a Sugar Bug will add points to your ride score in a similar manner.

We also know the shop next to Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, Planet M, will be getting a new look, thanks to concept art released by Tokyo Disney Resort. We’re guessing the shop will be stocked with lots of fun merchandise themed to Wreck-It Ralph. We think the shop will probably also be renamed.

So when will this new ride open? Well, Tokyo Disney Resort has not released an opening timeline, but Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will close in October 2024, so we’ll probably not see the new ride until 2025, at the earliest.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Disney news, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
