Okay, so you’ve planned your perfect Disney World trip, you’ve arrived at your hotel, and you’re ready to hit the parks.
Maybe you have a strategy for making sure you have a chance to ride all your favorite rides. Maybe rope dropping is part of that strategy. Well, before you rope drop, you might want to reconsider that strategy — we’ll tell you why.​
It’s no secret that Slinky Dog Dash is one of the most popular rides in Disney World. That means we often see multi-hour wait times for this ride. So you might think that it’s a ride you should rope drop. However, if you tried to rope drop Slinky Dog Dash at park opening yesterday, you would’ve found out it was closed — and stayed close for several hours.
However, even when the ride is available at park opening, rope drop wait times are still pretty high. If riding Slinky Dog Dash is a priority, you might be better off purchasing Genie+ to bypass the long standby line to access the shorter Lightning Lane.
However, Slinky Dog Dash had just a 10-minute wait at one point yesterday — that was right after the ride reopened. If you can keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app and catch a ride JUST as it reopens, you can often get a shorter wait.
